Car Cast

Slice of Sci Fi and Tom Zarek

Tee begins by talking about Kade and how much fun they had on Slice of Sci-Fi. He explores the idea of Tom Zarek as master manipulator and Kade agrees that Zarek is manipulating the events in his favor. Kevin and Kade play “who’s the cylon now.”

Obi Wan and good teachers

Tee moves on to talk about Obi Wan’s manipulation of Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy. Kade responds and explores manipulation’s role in differentiating between a good and a not-so-good teacher.

Admiral Marais from The Dark Wing walks a fine line

Tee uses a literary example in Walter Hunt’s military fiction. He uses the character Admiral Marais from the Dark Wing Series (The Dark Wing, The Dark Path, The Dark Ascent, and The Dark Crusade.) He debates about which side of the debate Admiral Marais’s actions fall.

Commander Adama and Malcolm Reynolds as true motivators

He then sets Commander Adama and Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly up as true motivators. He uses examples from their respective shows.

Manipulation in politics, Hilary plays, George W. lies

Tee explores manipulation in politics by revisiting alienEthOS’s discussion about Hilary Clinton and exploring the use of weapons of mass destruction as a tool used by President George W. Bush to go to war in Iraq.

A real motivator- Lance Armstrong

He explains that Lance Armstrong is a great motivator by way of example, raising cancer awareness.

Podcasting for Dummies and other websites

Tee wraps up by talking about his and Evo Terra’s new book Podcasting for Dummies in which alienEthOS: The Ethics of Sci-fi is mentioned. He also mentions his websites TeeMorris.com and PodioBooks.com.

He tells Kevin to ask Kade to do his Shirley Bassey impersonation and signs off.

Conclusion

Dame Shirley Bassey

Kade explains that Shirley Bassey is the only singer he knows that does her own echos and then demonstrates. He talks about her other work on the James Bond movies Diamonds are Forever, Goldfinger, and Moonraker between bursts of song.

Moonraker and Austin Powers

Kevin asks about Moonraker and discovers that it’s “James Bond in Space!” and then realizes that this is the basis of much of the Austin Powers parody.

Motivation, Manipulation, and Intent

After Kevin drags away from his show tunes, Kade summaries Tee’s message that while one’s intentions can be the difference between motivation and manipulation, we often cannot judge a person’s intentions so our best benchmark is whether one leads by example.

Thanks and call for submissions

Kevin and Kade thank Tee Morris for his contribution and encourage others to do the same.
